Emergency services were called to the vacant house at 12.05 this morning, by which time the front two bedrooms of the property were alight.
It took fire fighters around two hours to extinguishing the blaze, leaving the two bedrooms burnt out and the rest of the house with smoke and water damage.
Canobolas Local Area Command duty officer Dave Harvey said a crime scene has been established at the site.
"An investigation by detectives is underway," inspector Harvey said.
"At this stage it's not known if the fire was deliberately lit.
"Police would like anyone who saw or heard anything to contact police immediately."
