WITH Kinross sitting fifth, and Waratahs sixth, most would consider today’s Orange District Cricket Association first grade, final round clash between the two teams as an anti-climax to finish the season.

In reality, the game has potential to be the weekend’s most exciting fixture.
Should fourth-placed Centrals lose to the heavily favoured Orange City, Kinross would need only a win to leapfrog them into fourth.
Waratahs are looking to spoil the students’ party.
Kinross and Waratahs have faced off twice this season, for two Kinross wins. Failing to capitalise on opportunities cost Waratahs, a mistake captain Adam Brakenridge said his side won’t make a third time.
“Last time we played them we had them 2-0 pretty much,” Brakenridge said.
“We couldn’t ram the advantage home and they went on to get a defendable target, and roll us cheaply. We had a good partnership the other time and guys didn’t back it up. It’s about confidence for us, and taking our opportunities.
“We’ve improved all season, our decision making and consistency especially. We beat Centrals, and we don’t want to go out with only one win, we’d love to finish on a high and if that means spoiling Kinross’ finals hopes, then that’s what we want to do.”
The students have never featured in an ODCA finals series since they entered the competition in 2007-08, and coach Andrew Litchfield said they won’t get another chance.
“Finals cricket is a big incentive for the boys,” he said.
“They’ll throw everything at it. We just need to score more runs. We know we can take wickets and create chances in the field. Waratahs have improved, it will be a good game.”
Play between Kinross and Waratahs starts at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday at KWS Main Oval.
