The Sentinel Property Group, which purchased the shopping precinct on the Mitchell Highway in January, has already foreshadowed plans to attract new national retailers to the site that currently hosts Bunnings, Harvey Norman, BCF and Recollections.
Soon after paying $18.3 million to buy the Orange Homemaker Centre in January, Sentinel managing director Warren Ebert said he had big plans to revamp the site with a string of national retailers to open there before the end of the year.
Mr Ebert was unable to comment on negotiations with Spotlight, retailers of fabric, craft and homemaker supplies, as he’s overseas but a company spokesperson confirmed it was in negotiations with “lots of national tenants to fill new and existing space” at the site.
“I can’t confirm that Spotlight is one of those tenants,” the spokesperson said.
Sentinel has also revealed plans to build a $5 million bulky goods and takeaway complex on a 1.043 hectare site next to Supercheap Auto.
The company wants to construct a 4000-square metre building backing on to the Mitchell Highway with enough space for six shops, another 580-square metre building with space for one shop and a small takeaway food outlet, and a 141-space car park.
