In a game full of quick turnovers, Wannabies triumphed 4-2 last week, and pitcher Ben Warner says grinding out a close win in the penultimate game was perfect preparation for today.
“Last week was a good win for us, we needed a tough one like that,” he said.
“This week will be tough as well, but after that we’ve got a lot of confidence in ourselves, and I’ll definitely back us.”
Despite playing out plenty of close matches in the past with the Titans, Warner said should Wannabies “put it all together” they will claim a victory.
“We’ve had a lot of great success against the Titans in the past,” he said.
“We’ve played out plenty of tight ones though, and I don’t think you can expect a grand final to be anything less.”
Improvement from last week is possible, Warner said, particularly with the bat.
“I think the main factor in whether we win or lose [today] is our batting,” he said.
“We can definitely improve on it from last week, along with a couple of little things in the field. If we bat well, we win.”
The Wannabies clash with the Titans from 2pm. Four other grand finals will also be played today, with Redbacks playing the Dodgers at 9am in Modball, the Redbacks take on Crushers in under 15s at 10.30am, Sons of Pitches clash with Scared Hitless in Youth at 12.15pm, and PRP Eagles play Motley Crew at 4pm in Mixed B.
All the finals are at the softball diamonds at Jack Brabham.
