OPM will be one of more than 30 employers and training organisations at next week’s Jobs Expo, organised by Electrolux and Orange City Council together with the state and federal governments, to help Electrolux employees explore new work directions.
The free expo will be open to all jobseekers and for employers to make face-to-face contact with potential staff.
OPM managing director Mark Thompson said the expo was a good opportunity to tackle ongoing recruitment challenges.
“We have a very stable workforce, but we’re also a company that is growing and through that growth and normal staff turn-over, we could be hiring around 40 new employees over the next couple of years,” he said.
“We’ll be looking for sheet metal workers, boilermakers, fitters and welders.
“I’m sure there’ll be people now working at Electrolux who could work for us, or begin training so they could be attractive to us.”
Mr Thompson said it was an uncertain time for staff at Electrolux and he was glad OPN could make a contribution towards helping them find some more information about local employers and new employment options.
The Jobs Expo will be held on Friday, March 21, at Orange Ex-Services’ Club from 10am to 3pm.
