This year the City of Orange Brass Band was joined by the Willoughby Band, the Toronto Brass and the Parramatta Citadel Salvation Army Band as they marched up Summer Street to Cook Park where they performed on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.
There was also a Brass Celebration concert at Orange Civic Theatre on Saturday night.
The City of Orange Brass Band president Kathy Gott said one of the highlights of the weekend was having all four bands, comprising 120 musicians, march down the city’s main street performing together.
“It really was wonderful, it’s not often you get to play and close the highway,” she said.
“Cook Park looked delightful. We were told by the visiting bands that they had nothing like Cook Park in their towns, they were jealous.
Ms Gott said it wasn’t only the performers, who ranged in age from pre-teens to those in their 80s, who enjoyed themselves.
“In Orange we have a good solid consistent crowd who set up chairs at the beginning of the day and stay,” she said.
