A 57-year-old Orange woman is fighting for her life in hospital tonight following an car accident three kilometres south of Wellington on the Mitchell Highway.
It is understood the woman’s car left the road and drove into a barbed wire fence.
Police say the woman appeared to be suffering from a medical condition, but officers on the scene are investigating the matter further.
It is understood the woman was given CPR by passers by until paramedics arrived to take her to Wellington hospital about 5.30pm.
The patient was then flown by air ambulance, which arrived quickly from Orange, to take the woman to hospital about 6.20pm.
