A FORMER priest at St Stanislaus’ College has become the 11th man charged over historic allegations of sexual abuse at Bathurst schools.
Former Bathurst officer Detective Sergeant Justin Hadley, now attached to Sydney’s Northern Beaches command, arrested the 70-year-old man in Marsfield about 7.25am on Tuesday.
The man was taken to Ryde police station where he was interviewed before being charged with 14 counts of aggravated sexual assault relating to alleged incidents between 1975 and 1982, during the man’s time at St Stanislaus’ College.
The man was bailed with strict conditions and will appear before Burwood Local Court on April 23.
The 70-year-old is the 11th man charged by officers attached to Strike Force Belle.
The strike force was established in 2008 to investigate allegations of a paedophile ring operating at St Stanislaus’ and All Saints’ colleges in the 1970s and 1980s.
Men charged by Strike Force Belle, including a number of former priests, face a total of more than 300 charges to date.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the allegations and ask anyone with information to contact Strike Force Belle via Bathurst police station on 6332 8699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
