CRYING and pleading with magistrate Terry Lucas in Orange Local Court on Thursday, Luke Andrew Turner realised he had made a big mistake by stealing a tracksuit hours earlier in the central business district.

In doing so Turner, 31, was in breach of 10 section 12 good behaviour bonds which had been imposed by the court last year.
I don’t want to be here,” Turner told Mr Lucas sobbing.
“I don’t know why I did it,” he said.
In sentencing Turner Mr Lucas said because the accused had not obeyed the law he no alternative other than to send him to jail.
Mr Lucas sentenced Turner to 12 months in jail with a non-parole period of six months on the charge of breaching the bonds.
He then imposed a second 12 months’ jail sentence with the same non-parole period on the charge of shoplifting.
Turner continued to plead with the magistrate.
“I could not do any better than that for you sir if you were my own brother,” Mr Lucas said.
Turner will be eligible for release in August this year.
