Windsor, who also ran first overall, finished the undulating course in 1.11.19, a new personal best (PB).
“I actually shaved about two seconds off my PB, which I was surprised about because I felt sluggish the whole way,” he laughed.
“I think it may have just been cold legs though, I felt a bit better after I got going.”
Windsor beat Alex Rogers (1.13.21) and David Loader (1.19.43), in second and third respectively.
“It was a great race to run in,” Windsor said.
“It’s not as quick as running in say Sydney, Melbourne or the Gold Coast but conditions were good, and it’s a nice track and a nice city.
“I’m really happy with the time, considering I didn’t taper my training or anything. I was coming off a 170 [km] week, but I’m using this as a stepping stone to the Canberra marathon.”
Fardell crossed the line in 1.24.32, ninth overall, in “her slowest time yet”.
The star Dubbo runner, who also competes in triathlons, came first from Riki Inamura (1.30.14) and Shelley Hanrahan (1.32.16).
“Orange is always a tough course, and every year I finish and ask myself why I do it,” she laughed.
“It wasn’t as windy out there, compared to last year, and I was lucky enough to come up with a win, which made up for the time I ran.
“It was the slowest time I’ve done, which is surprising really. It’s all in the legs on the day, and with the win it isn’t that important really.”
