The Canberra Area Theatre Awards (CAT) committee recognised Mr Beatty for his outstanding achievement in original scripts, performance and direction for the Molong Players.
The theatre stalwart's last production A Club Full of Cracks ran for eight shows in August, 2013.
The glittering ceremony at the Australian National University also awarded Launa Boucher from Molong Players for Best Contribution (on or off stage) by a senior.
A Club Full of Cracks producer Paula Rudd said it was an "amazing script" loosely based on the movie Crackerjack.
"Think of the movie Crackerjack, throw in some Sister Act and then mix in some hillbillies and other characters. You will be rolling in the aisles laughing," she said.
While the Molong Players won two out of the four categories they were nominated for at last night's awards, the Orange Theatre Company and Kinross Wolaroi School were not so lucky.
Kinross Wolaroi School received 11 nominations for their two 2013 productions - Tribes, Vines and Killer Joules and Hairspray.
Orange Theatre Company received six nominations for their 2013 production of The Phantom of the Opera including best production, best leading actress and best leading actor in a musical.
The Orange region is not new to receiving CAT Awards, with Kinross Wolaroi School writer, director and teacher Romko Hordynsky winning the Gold CAT Award in 2012 for his original screenplay for Robbin' the Rich.
