The two clubs fought it out in all four divisions on Sunday, with both teams coming up trumps in two.
In division 1A Duntryleague continued its merry way in the competition, winning 4-1 at Cowra.
Robert Payne (1 up), Craig Stojanovic (6 and 5), Wayne Carpenter (8 and 6) and Mal Gregor (3 and 2) all completed clinical wins in the overall victory, with just Rob Parfett (3 and 2) going down.
The win moves Duntryleague (2.7 points overall) just 1.3 shy of first placed Parkes. Forbes (1.7) sit comfortably in third place while Cowra (0.4) and Wentworth (0.2) sit in fourth and fifth after the bye, and a 4-1 loss to Parkes respectively.
Duntryleague takes on last-placed Wentworth this week, with good chance of catching the current leader, which has the bye. Forbes and Cowra clash in the other match.
Duntryleague also triumphed in division 3B, winning 3-2.
Ian Paine (6 and 5), Marco Pasquali (4 and 3), Matthew Benbow (1 up) won their respective individual matches over Peter Grayson, Adrian Aitchison and Fhons Melisi while Jamie Stedman (3 and 1) and Mark Conn (3 and 2) lost out to Mick Spice and Andrew Coogswell.
The loss means Duntryleague (2.7) will seemingly battle with current leaders, cross-town rivals Wentworth (2.9) for the title, after the latter annihilated Parkes 5-0.
Forbes (1.7) sits third, while Cowra and Parkes (0.3) are equal fourth.
After Sunday’s 4-1 loss in division 2B, Duntryleague needs big wins in the final two rounds over Wentworth and Parkes to keep in touch with the leaders.
Duntryleague sits on 1.5, 1.5 points behind second placed Parkes, and 2.5 points behind leaders Forbes.
Duntryleague is not without hope in Division 4B, despite losing 3-2 to Forbes on Sunday.
The two now sit equal third on 1.6 points, 1.3 points off the pace.
Duntryleague can leapfrog Wentworth (2.6) into second with a big win next Sunday to set up a final round, title showdown with current leaders Parkes (2.9), which has the bye in round four.
