Ah-See takes on undefeated Brisbane fighter Shannon “Shaggy” King, at the Orange Function Centre for the vacant title and said his confidence was sky-high thanks to an ideal preparation.
“This is the most confident I’ve felt in my career I think, I’m not really nervous at all,” he said.
“My last two fights I haven’t sparred at all. I’ve been sparring twice a week for six weeks now. We tried to find someone similar to him as much as possible. A taller opponent, and someone who hits hard. But he is awkward, and we’d never find someone exactly the same as him.”
The 22-year-old southpaw said fitness would be a telling factor in the bout.
“There was some nerves about fighting a 10-rounder,” Ah-See explained.
“But my fitness is good. I’ve been pushing nine, 10, 12 rounds easily sparring. Training has been intense recently, but I’ve been tapering off massively and relaxing a lot, and enjoying what I’ve been doing.
“I know I’m ready for this fight.”
Ah-See’s bout is the main event, and will follow a long undercard aimed at promoting the fight against the “coward punch”.
The undercard will feature several prominent footballers from the Orange area, and several up-and-coming boxers.
Blayney Bears’ 2014 recruit Kurt Beahan will take on former Orange CYMS teammate, and now Oberon Tigers captain, Wade Judd.
Hawks winger Lofi Mataele will also take on Blayney’s Sam Coyte, while Hawks’ Tim Trudgett will battle CYMS’ Riley Law.
Ah-See’s manager, and fight promoter Matt Rose said the undercard would provide huge amounts of entertainment.
“These guys aren’t boxers, but they have been training,” Rose said.
“They’ve all taken up the services of local boxing trainers, and should provide some explosive-type boxing. I’m sure a few will be coming out looking for knockouts.
“It’s great to have them on board, especially in the fight against the coward punch.”
Doors open at the function centre at 6.30pm, with the show to start at 7pm.
