“This was not your money to take no matter what your stress,” magistrate Terry Lucas told Allison Lawry in Orange Local Court.
“It was a breach of trust between you and your employer.”
Lawry’s solicitor Michael Madden told the court his client had “paid all the money back with interest”.
He described Lawry as being of otherwise exemplary character and a person who was an outstanding member of the community.
As part of his sentencing submission Mr Madden handed a number of testimonials to the magistrate.
Mr Madden said his client had undergone significant trauma as a result of the case being publicised.
Lawry transferred the money via a number of internet transactions to her own account from the account of a small structural engineering company.
