Joe Clayton, Amarlie Dent and Fiona Reith have committed in the vice-president, secretary and umpire convener roles respectively, leaving the president, treasurer, draw secretary, equipment officer, publicity officer, mods co-ordinator, registrar and minkey co-ordinator roles vacant.
With the season just around the corner Clayton said the committee wasn’t expected to be filled, with Orange Hockey Incorporated set to take the reins.
“We are a sub-committee under incorporated, as are the men’s and women’s,” Clayton said.
“But we’ve had meetings and no one has stuck their hand up, so I would imagine incorporated will run the show this year. Obviously those of us who have committed will help out, but in a lesser role.”
Clayton said lack of interest was the only discernable reason for the less than ideal administrative numbers.
“It’s the only reason I can think of,” he explained.
“It seems to be getting harder and harder each year to convince people to get on board. But I think that is the same in most administrations, for most sports.”
Clayton refuted speculation junior hockey in Orange is at risk of folding.
“At this stage, absolutely not,” he said.
“It will run as normal, there will just be different people running the show. It definitely isn’t panic stations, we’d love to be a sub-committee. I know incorporated wants us as our own committee too. But it might not happen.”
