POLICE are investigating following a crash near Lithgow on Tuesday afternoon.

About 1pm emergency services were called to Jenolan Caves Road, about two kilometres south of the Great Western Highway at Hartley, following reports a truck and motorcycle had collided at the location.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 40s, died at the scene.
The male truck driver, also aged in his 40s, was not injured during the incident.
A crime scene has been established and will be examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit, as well as detectives.
Traffic may be affected while police carry out inquiries at the scene and drivers are therefore encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
