A 19-year-old man attended Parkes Police Station on Monday and was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The man was charged after he allegedly punched a 23-year-old in the stomach and the head.
The 23-year-old fell to the ground and hit his head.
He remains in Westmead Hospital in a critical but stable condition with a fractured skull.
The 19-year-old was given conditional bail and will appear in Parkes Local Court on February 17.
