Archer is facing the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Orange Local Court with police saying the assault was unprovoked and the victim needed hospital treatment.
According to police facts tendered to the court, Archer was so drunk when arrested by police at the scene, he had to be helped out to the caged police vehicle.
Police evidence also states Archer passed out on the way to the police station.
Police further allege when they arrived at the station and Archer was being processed by the custody officer he was so intoxicated he was unable to get his wallet out of his pocket to provide identification without leaning against a wall.
The incident occurred at 12.47am on December 7 with police saying the victim was hit on the right hand side of his head with the injury causing the victim’s nose to bleed.
Police also claim when they read out details of the assault to Archer at the station during the charging process he had no recollection of what had allegedly occurred.
“What assault,” he is alleged to have replied to police.
The victim was taken to Orange Hospital for medical attention following the alleged assault.
The case was adjourned until February.
