Total fire ban declared for Thursday

A TOTAL fire ban has been declared for Orange and the central ranges on Thursday.

Recent hot weather is predicted to continue, with a top temperature of 35 degrees expected in Orange.

The fire ban will commence at midnight on Wednesday and remain in place until midnight Thursday.

During a total fire ban no fire may be lit in the open, including incinerators and barbecues which burn solid fuel, such as wood or charcoal.

All fire permits are suspended during a total fire ban.

People should check their Bush Fire Survival Plan and monitor conditions and report any unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

Other central ranges council areas with a total fire ban include Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Lithgow and Mid West.

High temperatures are predicted to continue for the remainder of the week with a top of 34 on Friday, 33 on Saturday and 32 on Sunday.
