Canobolas Zone duty officer Arthur Sharp said multiple tankers were called out to the one-hectare fire, which was started along the side of a road.
"There were a lot of trees burning so we had to cut some down," Mr Sharp said.
Mr Sharp said winds have blown smoke over Orange this morning from multiple fires burning across the state.
"Prevailing winds are blowing smoke in from other regions," he said.
Mr Sharp said he has received phone calls about the smoke.
"I've taken calls from people in Woodstock, Molong and Goolagong," he said.
Other central west fires currently burning include a 40-hectare forest fire at the base of the Oberon Mount, which is listed by the NSW RFS as under control.
A 70-hectare grass fire at Tanks Road, Parkes is now under control.
The hay stack fire at Heath Road, Eurimbla near Wellington is also now under control.
