Toddler hit by car now in stable condition

A toddler run over in a driveway in Blayney on Saturday night is now in an improved and stable condition.

Acting Inspector Gareth Smith of Chifley Local Area Command said police are taking statements today from witnesses to the accident, which occurred just after 9pm on Saturday.

A 37-year-old man struck the 22-month-old girl while backing out of his driveway.

The girl was initially transported by road to Orange Hospital before being flown out to Westmead Children's Hospital for specialist treatment a few hours later.

"Thankfully there doesn't appear to be any internal injuries and she is recovering," said Acting Inspector Smith.
