MEDIA personality Jacinta Tynan is Orange’s Australia Day ambassador for 2014.
Ms Tynan, who is a news presented with Sky News Australia, is also an author, columnist and a proud mother of two.
Ms Tynan writes regularly for the print media and appears regularly on morning television breakfast programs.
She has also made guest appearances on the SBS Insight program and was a special guest on the television special Australia’s Most Influential Women.
Not afraid to step outside her comfort zone, she has also appeared on The Chaser and The Hamster Wheel.
As patron of SISTER2sister, a mentor program for disadvantaged teenage girls, Ms Tynan has played an important part in changing the lives of hundreds of young women since the program began 10 years ago.
Head of Orange’s Australia Day committee, Helen Corby, said she and the committee were thrilled with the announcement.
“We are always excited to see who we will be getting and we look forward to meeting Ms Tynan,” she said.
This is the sixth year Ms Tynan has been involved in the Australia Day program, which she maintains along with her busy lifestyle and caring for her two little boys Jasper, 4, and Otis, 2.
Her writings on motherhood have resulted in some healthy debate, including a story reminding us to celebrate the joy and privilege of motherhood.
She has recently launched a website Mother Zen to help “make motherhood easier” and is currently writing a book with the same title.
The program for this year’s Australia Day activities in Cook Park is being finalised and will be published in the next couple of weeks.
