The secretary of the CWA Orange branch Deborah Marr said the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership (CBP) program will allow for the maintenance, renovation and refurbishment of the hall.
Planned upgrades include improvements to the building’s plumbing and drainage, weather proofing, the upgrading of its safety provisions, the addition of fire-rated window treatments and the refurbishment of the front facade and entrance porch.
“We hope to start work as soon as possible and to complete the first stage of the work by June 2014,” she said.
“In the past young women in Orange had their wedding receptions in the CWA hall and we want to see them back.
“We want to see beautiful brides in our hall again.
“The hall could be used by people who want to have moderately-priced wedding receptions in pleasant surroundings.”
Ms Marr said the CWA was currently in talks with Orange City Council about the construction of a toilet block adjoining the building.
Ms Marr said Member for Orange Andrew Gee helped the CWA with its funding application.
“Andrew and his staff were well informed, helpful and supportive throughout the whole process,” Ms Marr said.
“This grant is good for Orange”.
