September 2: Ex-Services' season ends: Ex-Services fairytale season ends in the women's Premier League final, losing 3-0 to the Lithgow Panthers.

September 2: All Orange league grand final: For the third time in four weeks, CYMS beat Lithgow Workies and set up an all Orange Group 10 grand final. Ali Beale stars in the preliminary final, scoring thrice.

September 4: One game at a time: The Mardi Aplin leads Life Studios to the first grand final spot in its first Orange Netball Association season under its new name (formerly Westoil), with a 54-53 win over defending champions Robin Hood in the major semi-final.

September 5: I'm coming home: NSW Blues and Sydney Thunder quick Chris Tremain returns to where it all began, visiting Orange for the Milo T20 Blast Schools Cup.

September 6: Western to play at the SCG: NSW Cricket announces Western Zone will play in the 2013 State Challenge against North Sydney, at the SCG in December.

September 6: Grand honour for Veenstra: Central West Junior Rugby Union bestows a life membership on long time secretary Peter Veenstra.

September 6: World title for Bubb: Teenager Charlie Bubb earns an international muay thai title, winning the International Sports Karate Association super welterweight division by half a point from Wollongong's Nick Martin.

September 9: CYMS win one of the best: In front of a 5000 strong crowd at Wade Park, CYMS wins its third premiership in four seasons with a 24-14 win over Hawks in the first ever all Orange Group 10 grand final. Ben McAlpine stars for the green and golds, scoring one try and three goals. In the lower grades, Bathurst Panthers wins reserve grade 26-24 over St Pat's, Cowra overcome Hawks 18-4 in under 18s and Panthers win women's league tag over CYMS 20-0.

September 12: School's out: The Orange District Cricket Association announces Kinross will not be taking part in the first grade competition, meaning despite Waratahs comeback the top grade will still be left with five teams, and a bye.

September 14: Lachy answers coach's call: After originally missing selection in the NSW under 15s team, Lachy Stewart is called up as a replacement to take on the ACT Brumbies 15s squad.

September 16: Six in a row: Robin Hood Netball Club makes it six Orange Netball Association titles in a row with a 46-44 come behind win over Life Studios. Robin Hood defeated Life Studios (formerly Westoil) in all five previous deciders as well.

September 16: Lions roar: Sam Coote scores a second double in as many weeks, leading Orange City to its second consecutive undefeated Blowes Clothing Cup premiership, defeating the Parkes Boars 32-16. The Lions make it three out of four, winning second grade undefeated, beating Bathurst Bulldogs 27-15, and winning colts 18-14 over CSU. Emus make it an all Orange premiership affair, winning third grade 17-13 over Dubbo 'Roos.

September 18: Warrender walks away: After two knee reconstructions, and a recent hamstring tear, Jade Warrender announces her immediate departure from the Australian Insitute of Sport Hockey Women's High Performance Program. Warrender refuses to put a timeline on her break from the sport.

September 19: Amy keeps up with Country: Kinross-CYMS goalkeeper Amy Symons is named in the under 21 Australian Country team to play the corresponding Fijian team in December.

September 19: Touchy subject: Due to a boom in numbers, the City of Orange Touch Association announces it will shift base from the Country Club to Jack Brabham Park in 2013-14.

September 19: Seventh title for Cargo: Orange's Duncan Young wins his second premiership of the season, in two different codes, as Cargo Blue Heelers overcome the Eugowra Golden Eagles 22-12 in the Woodbridge Cup grand final.

September 21: Tough job for new Orange coaches: Steve Ryan and Steve Warrington are named to take over the reins of Orange's Western Zone Premier League opens representative team, replacing Matt Tabbernor.

September 22: Orange simply the best: After qualifying for the Netball NSW Inter-Regional State League by winning the Central West State League for the 18th consecutive time earlier in the month, Orange annihilated Illawarra 15s 69-36 in the final of the inaugural tournament.

September 23: Orange pair in Western: After being named to play in Western Zone's trial with Hawkesbury earlier in the month, Orange's Hugh Le Lievre and Liam Gough do all they can in Western's 4-run loss to the Sydney grade team. Gough takes 7-19, while Le Lievre manages 1-42 and one with the bat.

September 23: Bump up in prize money: Group 10 announces after the success of the 2013 grand final, the prize money will increase substantially, from $12 000 to $30 000, in 2014.

September 25: Chicks rough in: Four Emus chicks are named in the women's NSW Country team to compete in the Australian Country Championships.

September 27: Career that Jack built: Cumnock's Jack McCalman is named in the Australian Schoolboys Rugby team to contest the Macquarie Bank Tri-Nations Series in October.

September 28: Tigers for life: Orange Tigers premierships winning first grade coach Nathan Pearce, and wife Nicole are named as the club's newest life members.

September 30: Sam's on the money: Orange's Sam Ah-See takes his professional record to eight wins, and one technical draw, defeating Arnel Tinampay in a majority decision victory at the Black Money Fight Night in Dubbo.

September 30: Orange gymnasts dominate: Orange competitors take out seven division titles at the Gymnastics NSW Country Championships.
