To be held at North Court, the carols will feature music, food and of course Santa to keep all members of the family happy.
“We’re going right back to basics and it will be more a family event,” Orange City Council executive project officer Cathy Thomas said.
“I don’t think there will be any songs people won’t know.”
She said they have moved away from the theatrical performances of previous years with the hope of attracting more people.
While 400 attended the event last year organisers are hoping for more people this year.
“You could fit 1000 people in the grassed area,” she said.
Performances on the night will be by the Orange Regional Conservatorium of Music, Orange Mass Choir and the City of Orange Brass Band.
Make sure you pick up your free carols songbook so your family can sing along.
Other performers will include Sam Bartholomeusz and Bill Moxey who will sing in solo and group performances.
Families are invited from 7pm with festivities to run from 7.30pm to 8.45pm.
“Bring along a rug there will be glow sticks for sale in the shape of a candle,” she said.
“The money raised will go to the free Christmas day community lunch at the function centre.”
A barbecue from the Lions Club, along with coffee and ice cream will be available.
A merry-go-round will run prior to the start of entertainment for children.
Unfortunately the event will be cancelled in the case of wet weather.
