February 4: Colts not done with just yet: Orange scrapes through to the preliminary final of the Mitchell Cricket Council's colts competition following a two-wicket minor semi-final win over Mudgee. Chasing the visitors 167, Orange limped to 8-171 behind 45 from James Ryan and a solid all-round showing from Liam Gough, bagging 4-32 and hitting 34.

February 5: Mudgee lays down pennants gauntlet: Duntryleague skipper Robert Payne labels Mudgee the side to beat in the 2013 Central Western Districts Golf Association division one pennants after their 4-1 victory over Duntry. Led by a 5 and 4 victory by Andrew Best over Payne, Mudgee stormed to the top of the pennants ladder with Rob Parfett the only Duntryleague golfer to pinch victory on the road.
February 7: Tough start fine by Sullivan: Orange CYMS captain-coach Mick Sullivan says he is looking forward to a tough start to his side's 2013 Group 10 premier league campaign after the season's draw is released. CYMS are drawn derby rivals Orange Hawks in the opening round on April 7.
February 7: Blue Bulls have plenty of depth in paddock: Central West Blue Bulls head coach Matt McRobert reveals he is no closer to finalising a squad for the country championship. The Blue Bulls begun training in January and so impressed with talent on show, McRobert was left to mull over the make-up for the region's representative outfit ahead of their first trial in March.
February 9: Ahead of time: Boom Orange junior Jack Wighton makes his debut for the Indigenous All Stars in the annual All Stars match in Brisbane. Rooming with Greg Bird, Wighton says he's had to pinch himself in the lead-up to the match as he trains alongside the likes of Jonathon Thurston and Greg Inglis, players he's idolised for years.
February 9: Brown thrilled to thrill: Lewis Brown and Penrith teammates Mose Masoe and Nigel Plum visit schools around Orange in the lead-up to the Panthers' NRL trial match against the Wests Tigers in Bathrust. Part of the club's Community Carnival, the Panthers' hard men used the opportunity to talk to primary school kids about the negative impact bullying can have on other people.
February 11: Tremain tears into Tassie: Former Orange quick Chris Tremain underlines his Sheffield Sheild credentials with career-best performance against Tasmania. Tremain took 5-57 - at one stage snaring 4-0 and finding himself on a hat-trick - to help dismiss the Tasmanians for 245 all in his third game of first class cricket.
February 11: Lithgow puts an end to Orange colts title defence: Orange doesn't get the chance to defend its 2011-12 Mitchell Cricket Council under 21s title following a seven-wicket preliminary final loss to Lithgow. Putting just 78 on the board as Lithgow's bowlers ran riot, Orange didn't have the same venom with the ball as Lithgow went on to claim a comfortable victory and earn a place in the final against Bathurst.
February 12: Men unbeaten in hearty win: New South Wales 23 and under men's coach Mark Kerr says his side's HeartKids Cup win in Orange was the ideal way to prepare for the national championship. Competing in the charity event for the first time, the NSW side won all of its matches, edging out last year's champions Baulkham Hills for top spot in 2013.
February 13: Tick of approval: Mountains and Plains Swimming Association president Walter Hitchell says the 2013 area championship at the newly revamped Orange Aquatic Centre was "a damn good carnival". This year's championship was the first real test for Orange's new indoor pool, with 370 swimmers giving the venue a big tick of approval.
February 18: Dan the man with an eight-wicket haul for Centrals: Centrals' quick Dan Sandford takes season-best figures of 8-46 on day one of his side's Orange District Cricket Association clash with Cavaliers.
February 18: Heath reigns at Bradgate Park: Heath Ryan had plenty to smile about after taking out the major prize at this year's Dressage With Altitude. Ryan and Regardez Moi won the ThinLine Australian Grand Prix CDI three star event at Orange's Bradgate Park.
February 18: Siejka poetry in motion in Banjo Paterson Cup: Ashlee Siejka wins the 2013 Kents H Hardware Banjo Cup with Courage Tells at the Orange Harness Racing Club's biggest meeting of the season.
February 20: Lions Tamer: Former Wallabies assistant coach and 1999 World Cup winner Jim Williams returns to Orange for the first time since running a "claret" full training session with eventual Blowes Clothing Cup premiers Orange City. Williams is in Orange as part of the Learn Earn Legend program helping encourage indigenous Australians to make the most of their time at school.
February 21: Plenty of Hype: The Melissa Ashton-Gerard's HyPER Hy Performance Endurance Racing team sends nine young triathletes to the 2013 NSW All Schools triathlon. Tom Kotzur, Luke Chalker, Alex MCKay, Kyle Ostini, Sam Bellamy, Jack Bilton, Connor Whiteley, Kelsea Bellamy and Lauren Kerwick make the trip to Penrith's International Regatta Centre. Kerwick and Chalker qualified for the state side to compete at the national championship.
February 25: Cool running: Blue Mountains endurance running champion Brendan Davies became the inaugural winner of the Orange Colour City Running Festival marathon. Davies posted a time of two hours, 39 minutes and 13 seconds for the 42.2km event.
February 25: Orange City drinks from the cup: Orange City wins the Orange District Cricket Association Royal Hotel Cup, celebrating a 17-run triumph over CYMS at Wade Park. Stoutly defending 104, the Warriors bowled CYMS out for 87 as Ed Morrish cleaned up in his first over to finish the game with figures of 3-22 and the man of the match award.
February 26: A major victory: Orange two-handed star Jason Belmonte sits atop of the Professional Bowlers Association world after claiming his first major title, the United States Bowling Congress Masters. In a drama-charged final, Belmonte delivered three strikes in this final frame to edge Texan Wes Malott with a 258 to 245 win.
