Cohen Schubert and Charlie Greer were selected in the Western Zone side after their final match on Sunday.
Mitchell were able to topple Lachlan in Bathurst, but they had to do it the hard way.
“It was a pretty interesting game. At most representative matches you might see something different to what you’re used to, on Sunday I saw about six,” Mitchell and Western coach Garth Dean said.
“We won the toss and batted, and started okay but suddenly we were 8-55. The wickets just kept tumbling and we couldn’t stop that momentum and stick around at the crease.
“We got a bit of a stand out of the ninth wicket, and then the final pair, which was Fletcher Rose from Orange and Joel Robinson from Mudgee, put on about 80 for the last wicket and got us up to 9-141. Joel finished on 40 not out and did a sensational job.
“One of the Lachlan bowlers, Jacob Lucas, actually bowled himself into the Western side though, he was fantastic and put the ball on a great spot.”
The comeback from Mitchell wouldn’t have counted for much if they couldn’t capitalise on it, and they showed a similar sort of accuracy and incisiveness to their opposition when it came to their work with the ball.
They proceeded to roll through Lachlan for 89, with Greer performing well with the ball in hand.
Mitchell and Lachlan have finished tied on points in the Western Zone competition and a net run rate will need to be calculated to decide the overall winner.
Other Mitchell players selected in the Western Zone side are Bathurst’s Connor Slattery, Ben Parsons and Luke Powell, along with Mudgee’s Joel Robinson.
The Kookaburra Cup will be held at Newcastle from January 13-16.
The Western Zone side will have a training camp in Bathurst before the Kookaburra Cup.
