Whether it be via a Larry Emdur-hosted game show or a chook raffle, the thought of cruising off into the distance with a new set of wheels is the ultimate for most people.
It is for Dianne Hazzard too.
Mrs Hazzard was the winner of the SNAP Fitness 24-7 membership drive competition, a national program run over September and October pooling new members into a draw for a new Nissan Pulsar hatch.
A member of the gym’s Orange branch, Mrs Hazzard was picked from a pool of 15,000 people as the competition’s winner.
To say Mrs Hazzard was shocked when she received the news from Orange SNAP Fitness franchisee Tony Mackey is probably an understatement.
“Straight away I was asking if he got the right person,” she laughed.
“I knew I was in the running, but it’s one of those things, you think it’s a million-to-one chance of a local winning it. It’s just unbelievable.”
Mrs Hazzard was in the market for a new car, making the timing of the announcement just perfect.
She said the convenience of the gym drove her to join.
“I lost a bit of weight previous to joining the gym as well,” she said.
“For a bit more health and fitness I decided to join the gym and it’s been my daughter pushing me to lose a little more weight.
“She’s motivated me a bit more. I enjoy the hours of the gym and the staff are really friendly.”
