Organisers are expecting to go far beyond the figure of $20,000 raised last year.
“We have to do the final figures yet, but we will probably be up around the $30,000 mark,” organising committee member Shona Kay said.
“It’s been an absolutely sensational day, with the stallholders giving us feedback the quality of the stalls were the best ever.”
Every available car space in Millthorpe was taken yesterday, with a traffic management team put in place to guide drivers to available parking spaces.
“Because there is so much traffic coming into Millthorpe we had to employ a professional traffic management company,” Mrs Kay said.
Going hand in hand with the event, which raises money for Millthorpe Public School, is an increase in enrolments at the school.
The markets’ small organising committee of four people, led by Mrs Kay, has managed to bring the whole village on board for the markets.
“We had teachers here as well, and about 100 parents helping us on the day,” she said.
Fellow committee member Kate Munro said the event had brought the whole village together.
“From parents to teachers and students collecting at the gate, everyone is so engaged,” she said.
With the growth in enrolments expected next year and an additional classroom to be installed at the school, Mrs Munro hoped to equip the classroom with funds raised yesterday.
