Mr Morecroft admitted to a huge fascination with the environment and that was the focus of his 21 vertical single and four large multi-panel photographs captured from all over Australia.
“I have a fascination with the way the environment around us works and these photographs encourage the viewers to think about the environment’s structures and how the natural world works,” he said.
“My images are about nature and its structures and it’s about our ability to explore with our eyes, look at the environment and whatever the eye focuses on - that’s what I have tried to capture with these images.”
Mr Morecroft said he started seriously taking photos in his late teens and it was more than just a pastime.
“I’m more known for the media side of things but these exhibits are as important as any type of media work I have done,” he said.
“To me it’s critically important.”
Mr Morecroft will give a special floor talk about the exhibition at 5.30pm tonight, before the gallery is opened by “mathematical genius” Lily Serna, who starred alongside Mr Morecroft on hit ABC television series Letters and Numbers.
