Shoppers pop in to art gallery

Shoppers in the Orange City Centre will have the chance to bag an original artwork at Orange’s first pop-up art gallery, organised as part of Frost Fest.

Colour City Creatives, a collective of artists and creative people, is staging the pop-up gallery in the store previously occupied by Game, to showcase the work of local artists.

Artworks range in price from $30 for a digital artwork to $2500 for an oil painting.

Colour City Creatives founding member Joy Engelman said 80 artworks were on display.

“People are coming in here who wouldn’t normally come into an art gallery,” she said.

“We’ve even had people in here looking for the game shop and then asking about art.

“It’s been really good to get young people involved in art, letting them know they can paint.”

Ms Engelman praised Taste Orange for including a range of art events in this year’s Frost Fest.

“It’s great to promote food, wine and art in the community,”she said.

The gallery will be open until August 19.
