AN Orange group almost took out the teams’ marathon in Sunday’s Carcoar Cup.

The team of Mitch Williamson, Liz Simpson, Carrie Williamson and Nicole Williamson finished second in the teams’ marathon in two hours 58 minutes and 29 seconds.
They were beaten by the Sweat Sydney team of Mo Alkhum, Craig Cameron, Cindy King and Sean Williams, who stopped the clock in 2:54.45.
Other Orange runners also made it on to the podium.
In the 6km men’s dash, youngster Brandon Connolly finished second in 24.33.
He was hot on the heels of winner Sean Williams (24.04), while Martin Timms came in third in 25.40.
Orange’s Amber Rich finished second in the 6km women’s dash in 28.14.
Bronwyn Hagar was the winner in 28.00, while Orange young gun Charlotte Simmons finished third in 30.28.
In the Carcoar Cup for kids, Millthorpe’s Max Kay won his third under 12s trophy.
The 60km ultra marathon was run for the first time and it was taken out by Brendan Davies in 4:02.15.
In the inaugural women’s ultra marathon, Sarah Fein came out on top in 5:26.44.
Fein was a long way ahead of runner-up April Palmerlee (6:14.26) and Diane Galea (6:46.29).
Andrew Tuckey took out the men’s marathon in 2:49.45 and Angela Bateup claimed her third women’s marathon in 3:15.49.
Harry Summers won the men’s half marathon in 1:05.23, and Dubbo’s Jane Fardell won the women’s event in 1:22.20.
Around 400 runners contested the events in this year’s Carcoar Cup.
