AN Orange construction worker is in a critical but stable condition in Westmead Hospital after his left arm was severed and he sustained serious leg injuries in a building site accident on Wednesday morning.
A concrete boom fell on the man, 49, just after 7.30am as concrete was being poured on a residential building site in a development in west Orange.
Emergency services workers had to dig around the injured man to free him.
Police and WorkCover were on the site of the accident in Mariposa Street for several hours on Wednesday with the investigation being handled by WorkCover.
After he was stabilised at the scene the man was transported by road to Orange hospital before being flown by helicopter to Westmead Hospital.
