TEN of the finest gardens in Millthorpe and surrounds are ready and waiting for the thousands of people that visit the village each year for our Garden Ramble.
To be held this weekend, November 2 and 3, the Ramble features eight gardens in the surrounding area and two in the village. Entry cost is $5 per garden or $15 for an all-garden pass, with a pensioner concession of $10. The gardens will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
All funds received go towards improvements around the village, with this year’s going towards refurbishment of the Redmond Oval kiosk.
Redmond Oval is also where the Ramble HQ will be situated this year, where you can buy tickets and get information brochures and maps.
So prepare to see lots of visitors this weekend. Past Rambles have attracted more than 3000 people. Join in yourself to enjoy spring at its best.
RFS Open Day
While you’re at Redmond Oval, you can drop in to the Millthorpe Rural Fire Service Brigade next door for their open day on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
The state’s volunteer firefighters have featured a lot in the news in the past two weeks, and this gives you an opportunity to meet your local firefighters and see the trucks and equipment used for firefighting.
There will also be information on creating a bushfire survival plan, with firefighters providing practical information on how to prepare for and stay safe during the bushfire season.
Brigade member Giles Webster was part of one of the first Canobolas Zone deployments that left last Friday to assist with the firefighting efforts around Lithgow.
Seven more brigade members are on standby waiting to be deployed over the next couple of days.
