POLICE are investigating the death of a baby in Bowen on Sunday.
Shortly before 12.30pm police from Canobolas Local Area Command went to a house in Lewana Place where they performed CPR on an 11-month-old-boy who was unconscious.
An air ambulance landed near the house to transport the child to Westmead Children’s Hospital however paramedics decided he was too unstable to survive the trip so took him to Orange hospital via road ambulance.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
In accordance with police protocol a crime scene was established at the house and forensic specialists were brought in to investigate.
A post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
