SATURDAY field days are here to stay with organisers reporting bumper crowds and lots of families at the Australian National Field Days.
The last time field days was run on a Saturday was one time 15 years ago, and it was never repeated with bad weather and negative feedback from exhibitors.
But times have changed and Saturday trading is now essential according to Australian National Field Days administration manager Jayne West.
While she does not yet know the total number of people who passed though the gates on Saturday, she expects it to be big
“They’ve flocked to the field days on Saturday and I think the move has really paid off,” she said.
“It was a real influx of families but not only town families but farm families.”
Mrs West said the demographic of Orange has changed from agriculture to lifestyle property owners, and a Saturday field day will help capture that.
“When you’ve got a lifestyle block you still need cattle yards, slashers and tractors,” she said.
“We are well and truly up on what we’ve had in previous years.
“Today [Saturday] totally proved we have survived and we can improve on it.”
