MANY roads remain closed across the Blue Mountains as firefighters work to contain large fires still burning across the region.
Over the last week 60,850 hectares have been burnt out by the State Mine, Mount Victoria and Springwood fires.
Bells Line of Road (between Bilpin and Lithgow), Hartley Vale Road, Fields Road (Browns Gap) and Darling Causeway remain closed.
Currently the Great Western Highway is open to traffic.
Hundreds of firefighters remain on scene conducting back burning operations.
There is still active fire to the north of Bilpin and north west of Mountain Lagoon with the State Mine fire.
Fire continues to burn in the vicinity of Blackheath and could threaten Mt Victoria, Shipley, Hartley Vale, Little Hartley, the Megalong Valley and the Kanimbla Valley. There is no immediate threat to property.
In the Springwood region, fires are burning within containment lines in the vicinity of Grose Road and Chapman Parade at Faulconbridge, west of Yarramundi and south west of Grose Vale, Grose Wold and Bowen Mountain.
Currently the three fires are at a 'watch and act' alert with residents advised to take advice from firefighters in the area.
