ORANGE and district could experience its first significant snowfall of the year today, however, residents are being warned not to attempt to drive up Mount Canobolas.
Orange police are advising drivers the road to Mount Canobolas will be closed today due to deteriorating weather conditions and snow expected on the mountain.
Inspector Bruce Grassick is urging drivers to slow down today.
“Poor weather conditions mean drivers need to take this into account and drive accordingly,” he said.
Inspector Grassick said police were advised by Cabonne Council late yesterday the road to Mount Canobolas would be closed.
Today’s minimum temperature is expected to be 0 degrees, rising to a minimum of just 8 degrees.
Tomorrow, conditions will deteriorate even further with a morning low of minus 1 expected and a top of 9 degrees predicted.
Winds accompanying snow today is expected to make travel on district roads hazardous.
However, sunny conditions are expected on Saturday and Sunday, with a top of 11 degrees predicted for both days.
