BIG scores highlighted the second round of the Orange District Cricket Association’s combined second and third grade premiership, with Troy O’Keefe’s unbeaten 132 the highlight.
O’Keefe led the charge for a rampant Orange City against Waratahs at Jack Brabham 2, with the big-hitting right hander belting an unbeaten ton as Dave Boundy (53) and Shaun Churchill (82) chimed in to finish City’s innings at 4-335.
Most of the Waratahs bowlers copped plenty of punishment, but Jono Savill (2-68) managed to pick up a couple of wickets along the way.
With the ball, City was equally dominant.
Aside form a knock of 69 from Ted Crane, Waratahs proved no match to City’s veteran seamers, with Boundy claiming 3-24 from his eight overs.
Daniel Donato (2-20) and Braden Riles (2-18) also picked up wickets to help bowl Waratahs out for 134.
Centrals’ Chris Beatty helped his side chase down CYMS’ total of 6-184 with five wickets still in the shed.
Beatty hammered 93 - at one stage hitting spinner Nick Moran for three straight sixes - before falling with the score on 165, the job all but done as Mark Niederle (41) and Tristan Moon (18) helped Centrals over the line.
Earlier at Brendon Sturgeon Oval, CYMS’ top order bat Mick MacMahon helped his side to the reasonable total with a well compiled 76.
With the ball for Centrals, Roshan Eiseman was the pick with 2-17 off his eight overs to help set up the five-wicket win.
In other second-third grade games Gladstone defeated City Warriors by 170 runs and Cavaliers notched up another win with a 46-run triumph over Wanderers Force.
In Centenary Cup, Orange City defeated Waratahs by nine wickets, KWS Young Guns beat KWS 3rds by 38 runs and CYMS Fahys just missed out on a memorable win over CYMS Kellys, going down by 12 runs.
