ROSS Montgomery has made the most of the home-course advantage to take an early lead after yesterday’s opening round of the 2013 Duntryleague veterans stableford event.
Competing in division one of the stableford event, Montgomery scored 42 points to lead Shellharbour Links member Robert Jeffree (40 points) at time of print late yesterday afternoon.
In division two, Bob Brazier scored 41 points while Forbes’ David Wilson had 35.
In the ladies division one event, nothing could split Cromer golfer Margaret Naylor and Long Reef’s Jenette Nell, both scoring 38 points.
But the most impressive score of the day was from Duntryleague’s Maureen Cook in division two.
Cook scored 47 points to lead club mates Dorothy Beasley and Judy Royal (40 points each) after the first round of the stableford event.
A 36-hole stableford champion will be crowned at the end of today’s round, with a four-ball medley to be conducted on Thursday.
