A KALEIDOSCOPE of colours, textures and patterns are set to adorn Canowindra’s main street today, with the second Airing of the Quilts lighting up shop windows, verandas and balconies.
After guests travelled from Parkes, Cootamundra and even Stockinbingal for last year’s quilt display, organisers Debbie Guihot and Fiona Ferguson are looking forward to the unique event.
“We’ll have quilts of all sizes and styles, from the traditional to the very contemporary,” Mrs Guihot said.
While last year’s Airing of the Quilts saw 90 quilts proudly displayed, Mrs Guihot said both local quilters and those as far as Sydney had submitted their beautiful and often painstaking creations.
After being inspired by other towns’ quilt displays, Mrs Guihot said the event was great for the Canowindra community.
“Nundle has one and Braidwood has a beautiful one, so we thought, if Braidwood can have one, why can’t we,” she said.
“It brings people into the town, it doesn’t cost anything and it’s a really lovely day out for families.”
