VISITORS and residents in Orange will be spoilt for choice when it comes to grabbing a coffee or something to eat over the long weekend with 44 businesses open on Sunday and 37 open on Monday.
Orange City Council has published a three-page list of food and drink outlets open in Orange and surrounding towns over the weekend to debunk the myths that nowhere is open on Sundays and public holidays.
The Where to Eat and Drink guide lists more than 50 businesses in the Orange, Cabonne and Blayney areas open over the weekend and also details the opening hours of wineries in the Orange and Canowindra district.
Environment and economic development policy committee chair Councillor Neil Jones said the out-of-date myths about not being able to get a cup of coffee on a holiday weekend Monday were persistent, despite the plethora of fantastic food and drink options in Orange.
“It’s fair that some businesses will choose to close on the long weekend and give their staff time with their families, but Orange’s hospitality industry has now grown to the point where there are still many options,” Cr Jones said.
Taste Orange marketing manager Charlotte Gundry believes the guide will be helpful to the thousands of travellers exploring the Orange district over the weekend and residents.
