ALMOST 10 years of growing all swept up on the floor.
Former Orange youth mayor Thomas Roberts shaved his head as tribute to the community for helping him raise $2300 towards research for a debilitating condition.
Mr Roberts suffers from Friedreich's ataxia which is a degenerative disease that is slowly eating away at his muscles.
Mr Roberts had not cut his hair short for 10 years.
“My daughter still doesn’t recognise me,” he said.
The money was raised at a live music gig at The Occidental Hotel on Saturday night.
Mr Roberts, prior, to the event, said if he raised $2000 he would go bald.
“Once I sat down and they started cutting I thought oh no this is bad,” he said.
However he is pretty impressed with the finished product, so is his partner Teja Barry-Chambers
Mr Roberts said words cannot describe how grateful he was to the businesses that sponsored him and the bands that dedicated their talent and time to the evening.
