Referring to his daughter as 'beautiful Eliza' at the inquest into the pair's deaths in Orange this morning, Andrew Wannan told Deputy State Coroner Sharon Freund of the unbearable pain and fracturing of their happy family life after the death of their daughter.

Mr Wannan also read out a moving statement by his wife Katrina, who he said was unable to attend the inquest because of the ongoing pain and grief after the loss of her beloved daughter.

"I continue to struggle to put her wonderful character and personality into words," Mr Wannan said.

Will Dalton-Brown's mother Lee Dalton was distraught as she tried to speak about the loss of her son.

"I think about him last thing at night and when I wake in the morning," she said.

"Since his death I am empty."

Will's father Gerry Brown said he lay the blame for the young couple's death on a number of people, but deemed revealing their names in his statement "not appropriate".

"I am here to honour my son William and his friend Eliza in death as in life," Mr Brown said.
