GREG Button will stay on as Orange Health Service emergency director following a meeting held at the hospital late on Thursday.
Dr Button’s sudden resignation on Thursday sent shockwaves around the hospital with some staff telling the CWD they were disappointed the hospital would lose the services of such an experienced medico.
In a response to a CWD inquiry yesterday Orange Health Service general manage, Catherine Nowlan said Dr Button had rescinded his resignation and had agreed to continue in the role.
The CWD understands Dr Button will remain in the role until the new year.
Dr Button was unavailable for comment yesterday.
Only last month Orange Health Service was granted a status to be accredited to train up to six registrars at a time by the Australian College for Emergency Medicine.
At the time Ms Nowlan congratulated Dr Button and his team for their work in securing the accreditation, which is a feather in the service’s cap.
The CWD was told by a health professional on Thursday Dr Button had submitted his resignation over unresolved issues with management.
