SHOPPERS were left bemused but entertained after watching what appeared to be a spontaneous dance group pop up in the Orange City Centre this afternoon.
Excited parents might have let the cat out of the bag on Facebook, but there were still some genuinely surprised people as 65 Canobolas Rural Technology High school students started their flash mob routine.
Student Maddison Leonard was part of the dance troupe, which consisted of students from Years 7 to year 10.
"It was pretty scary," she said."But it was so much fun."
Students were told only this morning they would be part of the dance at 2pm.
That gave them less than five hours to put their routine together and compose a dance in a space they had never seen.
Principal Chad Bliss said the purpose behind what would hopefully be the first of many flash mobs was to raise the profile of the school.
