A POWERHOUSE at the Central Schools championships in the past, Molong Central School has continued its rich vein of form in the under 16s rugby league sevens, taking out its third consecutive Central Schools title.
Again dominating, Molong’s side beat the best teams in the northern and western central schools area to claim the 2013 title undefeated.
It’s the third consecutive year the school has claimed the Central Schools under 16s title while also the fourth in five years.
Coach Mart Patterson said his side was quite dominant throughout the championship, with the challenge now being translating this success into the opens division while also attempting to maintain Molong’s hold on the under 16s title with a new side.
“We’re hoping to keep the tradition going,” Patterson said, with his side winning its 10 round-robin games to take home the title.
Of the 10 games Molong played, the closest any side got was within 20 points.
“All of the boys’ sportsmanship was outstanding,” he said.
“Early in the tournament there were a few weaker sides and it was all about participation.
“There were various Central Schools from across the state, essentially everyone bar Sydney metropolitan areas were there.
