AN 80-year-old woman was airlifted to Westmead Hospital yesterday with serious injuries following a two-car accident on the corner of Lords Place and Franklin Road.
The woman was a front-seat passenger in a car being driven by her husband, who is in his 80s.
The elderly man was treated for his injuries at the scene and transported to Orange hospital where he is in a stable condition.
The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to Orange hospital for treatment for minor injuries and is in a stable condition.
One of the vehicles was travelling east on Franklin Road while the other vehicle was travelling south on Lords Place.
Canobolas Local Area Command duty officer Peter Atkins said the elderly couple were trapped in their vehicle until Fire and Rescue NSW were able to extricate them.
Both roads were closed for several hours yesterday until a forensic team could conduct an investigation.
Inspector Atkins said police had spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene.
“[However] We would like anyone who has not already spoken to police, but witnessed the incident, to contact investigators immediately.”
