POLICE have charged a 24-year-old man with a string of offences following a short vehicle pursuit in Dalton Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dubbo man and his 23-year-old female passenger where travelling down Dalton Street at around 4.45pm when police unsuccessfully attempted to pull them over.
The couple eventually abandoned the vehicle after they’d crashed it into a creek in Clinton Street near Matthews Avenue.
Police caught them a short time later.
The man was charged in relation to a number of offences including breaching his bail conditions, theft, driving while disqualified and Skye’s Law (for instigating a police pursuit).
The man was also charged over the theft of a wallet stolen from the back pocket of a man as he played the poker machines at a local pub in Orange on Monday afternoon.
The woman was charged with being a passenger in a stolen vehicle.
The man was remanded in custody on Wednesday night and was due to appear in Orange Local Court yesterday.
The arrest comes after police used the Canobolas Local Area Command’s Facebook page to release CCTV footage of the couple this week.
