THE big games of senior footy might be at Wade Park for the rest of the year, but the business end of the Group 10 junior rugby league season kicks off at Blayney’s King George Oval this Saturday.
Major and minor semi-finals will be played from 9am on Saturday morning, with the under 10s the first cab off the rank.
There’s plenty of Orange teams in action too.
Lining up in major semi-finals, the Bloomfield Tigers play Mudgee in the under 10s, under 11s minor premiers Bathurst St Pat’s White face Bloomfield, the Bloomfield Wildcats tackle St Pat’s in the under 13s, and Bloomfield play St Pat’s in the under 16s.
CYMS are also represented in major semi-finals, playing Bathurst Panthers in the under 14s.
In the minor semi-finals, CYMS tackle Blayney in the under 13s and Panthers in the under 15s.
It’s the under 16s major semi-final at 3pm that’s highly anticipated.
“That’s Bloomfield and St Pat’s. They’re the two best sides in the under 16s,” Group 10 juniors president Martin Power said.
“They’ve fought it out the last couple of years actually.
“Bloomfield had eight in the Group side and six in the Western Division side or something like that and St Pat’s had a couple as well. It should be a really good game.”
Power was looking forward to a big weekend
“It’s been a great year. We’ve had record numbers and no dramas,” he said.
“We’re all looking forward to the finals.”
The preliminary finals will be in Bathurst on September 7 before grand final day in Lithgow on September 14.
Saturday’s major and minor semi-finals begin from 9am at Blayney’s King George Oval.
